Effective May 1, 2006, Celestial Lighting has discontinued the Ropelite product from our lineup.
As you may be aware, new UL Standards have been implemented for this category of product, and they essentially prohibit cutting the fixture to length in the field or making any splice connections. These new standards would require us to ship all Ropelite in pre-cut lengths, with all power cords and end caps pre-attached. In turn, customers would have to provide us with individual field dimensions for every length of Ropelite they wish to purchase, instead of ordering it in bulk and trimming it to size on site.
While Ropelite was not one of our core products, we had continued to offer it largely due to requests for an inexpensive and easy-to-install solution for certain applications, such as outlining architectural features or providing decorative accent. Unfortunately, the new UL requirements make this fixture neither inexpenisve for us to offer, nor easy to install for the customer. The key benefits of using Ropelite have been taken away.
Going forward, please refer to the products below for applications where Ropelite had been used. These fixtures can be cut in the field and also offer better performance in terms of light output and/or lamp life. All of them have the added benefit of lamp replaceability.
